Whilst traditionally in our industry the summer months are quieter with longer lead times due to holidays and factory shut downs in Europe, take this opportunity to plan and think about any re-decoration plans for the Autumn.
Five Important Tips to Help get you Started
1.Be aware of sunny bright days when choosing colours, remember we have very long dark winter months with less light.
2. Feature Wallpaper – Make sure you tie it in with other furnishings, rather than choosing a bright, bold, pattern, sometimes less is more.
3. Be aware of fixed items that cannot be changed or moved. For example if the radiators are underneath the windows, consider painting the same colour as the wall or make sure the curtains are full length to avert the eye away from where the window stops and the top of the radiator
4. Symmetry and balance are essential. Consider repositioning existing furniture or even removing it completely from the room to create a more balanced scheme.
5. Just because your existing soft furnishings are a colour that you may not want to keep forever, don’t just choose cream or beige as a compromise. They can appear dull and washed out and achieve little.
